D. Aster’s work develops between observation, silence, and time. Nature does not appear as a theme, but as language. Each work seeks to register what remains when description is no longer sufficient.
More than representing an instant, she is interested in building images capable of continuing to reveal meanings over the years.
The time of the artwork
Each painting goes through numerous layers before being considered complete. The composition matures slowly, respecting the very rhythm of matter and perception.
The studio remains a space for work, observation, and continuity.
Color never arrives alone.
Before it, there is a temperature.
A memory.
A time.
Perhaps painting is merely learning to recognize what was already present.
The gaze also learns.
There are images we see.
There are others we can only recognize when life finally reaches the artwork.
